Alors Abigail s'est dépêchée et a pris deux cents pains et deux vaisseaux de vin et cinq moutons prêts habillé et cinq mesures de maïs desséché et cent groupes de raisins secs et deux cents gâteaux de figues sèches et les a posés sur les ânes : Et elle a dit à ses domestiques : Allez avant moi : voyez, je suivrai après vous : mais elle a dit pas à son mari, Nabal. Et quand elle était arrivée sur un âne et baissait au pied de la montagne, David et ses hommes sont descendus contre elle et elle les a rencontrés. Et David a dit : Ayez vraiment en vain j'ai gardé tout qui a appartenu à ce type dans l'étendue sauvage et rien n'a été perdu de tout qui s'est rapporté à lui : et il hath m'a rendu le mal Peut pour de bon. Dieu faire ainsi et ainsi et ajouter plus aux ennemis de David, si je pars de tout qui lui appartiennent jusqu'au matin, n'importe qui que pisseth contre le mur. Et quand Abigail a vu David, elle s'est dépêchée et s'est allumée de l'âne et est tombée avant David, sur son visage et a adoré sur la terre. Et elle est tombée à ses pieds et a dit : Sur moi permettent à cette iniquité d'être, mon seigneur : permettez à votre servante de parler, j'implore vous, dans vos oreilles et entends les mots de votre domestique. Laissez pas mon seigneur le roi, je prie vous, considère cet homme méchant, Nabal : car selon son nom, il est un imbécile et la folie est avec lui : mais je, votre servante, n'ai pas vu vos domestiques, mon seigneur, que vous sentest. Maintenant donc, mon seigneur, le Seigneur liveth et votre âme liveth, qui hath withholden vous de venir au sang et à hath a sauvé votre main à vous : et permettez maintenant à vos ennemis d'être comme Nabal et tout ils qui cherchent le mal à mon seigneur. Et pour cette raison reçoivent cette bénédiction, que votre servante hath a apportée à vous, mon seigneur : et donnez-le aux jeunes hommes qui suivent vous, mon seigneur. Pardonnez l'iniquité de votre servante : car le Seigneur fera sûrement pour mon seigneur une maison fidèle, parce que vous, mon seigneur, fightest les batailles du Seigneur : permettez pas au mal donc d'être trouvé dans vous tout les jours de votre vie. Car si un homme doit monter n'importe quand et persécuter vous et chercher votre vie, l'âme de mon seigneur doit être gardée, comme dans le paquet de la vie, avec le Seigneur votre Dieu : mais on doit faire tournoyer les âmes de vos ennemis, comme avec la violence et le fait de tournoyer d'une fronde. Et quand le Seigneur doit avoir fait à vous, mon seigneur, tout le bien qu'il hath parlé concernant de vous et doit avoir rendu vous le prince sur l'Israël, Cela ne doit pas être une occasion de chagrin à vous et un scrupule de coeur à mon seigneur, que vous avons répandu le sang innocent, ou s'est vengé de thyself : et quand le Seigneur doit avoir bien fait par mon seigneur, vous nous souviendrons de votre servante.Then Abigail made haste and took two hundred loaves, and two vessels of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of dry figs, and laid them upon asses: And she said to her servants: Go before me: behold, I will follow after you: but she told not her husband, Nabal. And when she had gotten upon an ass, and was coming down to the foot of the mountain, David and his men came down over against her, and she met them. And David said: Truly in vain have I kept all that belonged to this fellow in the wilderness, and nothing was lost of all that pertained unto him: and he hath returned me evil for good. May God do so and so, and add more to the foes of David, if I leave of all that belong to him till the morning, any that pisseth against the wall. And when Abigail saw David, she made haste and lighted off the ass, and fell before David, on her face, and adored upon the ground. And she fell at his feet, and said: Upon me let this iniquity be, my lord: let thy handmaid speak, I beseech thee, in thy ears, and hear the words of thy servant. Let not my lord the king, I pray thee, regard this naughty man, Nabal: for according to his name, he is a fool, and folly is with him: but I, thy handmaid, did not see thy servants, my lord, whom thou sentest. Now therefore, my lord, the Lord liveth, and thy soul liveth, who hath withholden thee from coming to blood, and hath saved thy hand to thee: and now let thy enemies be as Nabal, and all they that seek evil to my lord. Wherefore receive this blessing, which thy handmaid hath brought to thee, my lord: and give it to the young men that follow thee, my lord. Forgive the iniquity of thy handmaid: for the Lord will surely make for my lord a faithful house, because thou, my lord, fightest the battles of the Lord: let not evil therefore be found in thee all the days of thy life. For if a man at any time shall rise, and persecute thee, and seek thy life, the soul of my lord shall be kept, as in the bundle of the living, with the Lord thy God: but the souls of thy enemies shall be whirled, as with the violence and whirling of a sling. And when the Lord shall have done to thee, my lord, all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have made thee prince over Israel, This shall not be an occasion of grief to thee, and a scruple of heart to my lord, that thou hast shed innocent blood, or hast revenged thyself: and when the Lord shall have done well by my lord, thou shalt remember thy handmaid.
Et David a dit à Abigail : Bénit être le Seigneur Dieu de l'Israël, qui a envoyé vous ce jour-ci pour me rencontrer et bénit être votre discours : Et bénit être vous, qui m'a gardé au jour de venir au sang et se venger de moi avec ma propre main. Autrement, comme le Seigneur liveth, Dieu de l'Israël, qui hath withholden moi de faire vous n'importe quel mal, si vous n'étions pas venus vite pour me rencontrer, n'avait été quitté là à Nabal par la lumière du matin, aucun que pisseth contre le mur. Et David a reçu à sa main tout ce qu'elle lui avait apporté et lui a dit : Entrez dans la paix dans votre maison, voyez j'ai entendu votre voix et ai honoré votre visage.And David said to Abigail: Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who sent thee this day to meet me, and blessed be thy speech: And blessed be thou, who hast kept me to day from coming to blood, and revenging me with my own hand. Otherwise, as the Lord liveth, the God of Israel, who hath withholden me from doing thee any evil, if thou hadst not quickly come to meet me, there had not been left to Nabal by the morning light, any that pisseth against the wall. And David received at her hand all that she had brought him, and said to her: Go in peace into thy house, behold I have heard thy voice, and honoured thy face.
Et Abigail est venue à Nabal : et voyez il avait un festin dans sa maison, comme le festin d'un roi : et le coeur de Nabal était joyeux, car il était ivre très : et elle lui a dit rien moins ou plus jusqu'au matin. Mais tôt le matin, quand Nabal avait digéré son vin, sa femme lui a dit ces mots et son coeur est mort dans lui et il est devenu comme une pierre. Et après que dix jours avaient passé, le Seigneur a frappé Nabal et il est mort. Et quand David avait entendu dire que Nabal était mort, il a dit : Bénit être le Seigneur, que hath a jugé la cause de mon reproche, à la main de Nabal et à hath a gardé son domestique du mal et le Seigneur hath a rendu la cruauté de Nabal sur sa tête. Alors David a envoyé et a traité avec Abigail, qu'il pourrait la prendre à lui pour une femme. Et les domestiques de David sont venus chez Abigail, chez Carmel et lui ont parlé, en disant : David hath nous a envoyés à vous, pour prendre vous à lui pour une femme. Et elle est survenue et s'est courbée avec son visage à la terre et a dit : Voyez, permettez à votre domestique d'être une servante, laver les pieds des domestiques de mon seigneur. Et Abigail est survenue et s'est dépêchée et est arrivée sur un âne et cinq demoiselles sont allées avec elle, ses femmes de chambre attendant et elle a suivi les messagers de David et est devenue sa femme. - 1er Samuel 3:18-42 And Abigail came to Nabal: and behold he had a feast in his house, like the feast of a king: and Nabal’s heart was merry, for he was very drunk: and she told him nothing less or more until morning. But early in the morning, when Nabal had digested his wine, his wife told him these words, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone. And after ten days had passed, the Lord struck Nabal, and he died. And when David had heard that Nabal was dead, he said: Blessed be the Lord, who hath judged the cause of my reproach, at the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil, and the Lord hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his head. Then David sent and treated with Abigail, that he might take her to himself for a wife. And David’s servants came to Abigail, to Carmel, and spoke to her, saying: David hath sent us to thee, to take thee to himself for a wife. And she arose, and bowed herself down with her face to the earth, and said: Behold, let thy servant be a handmaid, to wash the feet of the servants of my lord. And Abigail arose, and made haste, and got upon an ass, and five damsels went with her, her waiting maids, and she followed the messengers of David, and became his wife. - 1st Samuel 3:18-42
