Una fórmula de creencia que contiene en doce declaraciones o "compromete las doctrinas fundamentales por contrato" del cristianismo, y cuya tradición de autoría asigna a los Apóstoles. No está seguro si los Apóstoles ellos mismos realmente lo formaron. En la sustancia, sin embargo, puede ser atribuido a ellos, ya que todos sus elementos son encontrados en el Nuevo Testamento. En una fecha muy temprana la iglesia Occidental requirió que catechumens lo aprendiera y recitara antes de admitirlos al bautismo.A formula of belief which contains in twelve statements or “articles” the fundamental doctrines of Christianity, and whose authorship tradition ascribes to the Apostles. It is not certain whether the Apostles themselves actually composed it. In substance, however, it may be attributed to them, for all its elements are found in the New Testament. At a very early date the Western Church required catechumens to learn and recite it before admitting them to Baptism.
