Del mondo intero un uomo, Peter, è scelto per presiedere di tutte le nazioni ed esser messo sopra tutti gli apostoli e tutti i padri della chiesa. Sebbene ci sia nella gente di dio molti vescovi e molti pastori, Peter è così nominato a governare nella sua persona quelli chi Christ anche governa come il sovrano originale. Amato, che grande e meraviglioso è questa divisione nel suo potere che il Dio nella sua bontà ha dato a quest'uomo. Tutto quello che Christ ha desiderato per esser condiviso in comune da Peter e gli altri capi della chiesa, è solo attraverso Peter che lui ha dato ad altri quello che lui non ha rifiutato di concedergli. Jesus disse: “Su questa roccia costruirò la mia chiesa, e le porte d'inferno non devono prevalere su questo.” Su questa fondazione forte, lui dice, costruirò un tempio eterno. La gran altezza della mia chiesa, che deve penetrare il cielo, deve aumentare sulla fondazione solida di questa fede. Perciò dicono a Peter beato:“ A Lei darò le chiavi del regno di cielo.
