Du monde entier un homme, Peter, est choisi pour présider le de toutes les nations et être mis sur tous les apôtres et tous les pères de l'église. Bien qu'il y ait dans les gens de Dieu beaucoup d'évêques et beaucoup de bergers, Peter est ainsi nommé de gouverner dans sa propre personne ceux que Christ gouverne aussi comme la règle originale. Chéri, comment grand et magnifique est cela partageant dans son pouvoir que Dieu dans sa bonté a donné à cet homme. Jesus said: “Upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” On this strong foundation, he says, I will build an everlasting temple. The great height of my Church, which is to penetrate the heavens, shall rise on the firm foundation of this faith. Blessed Peter is therefore told: “To you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound also in heaven.
