Né à l'aristocratie. Amator a senti un appel à la prêtrise et étudiéstudied théologietheology, mais sa famille a objecté et il s'est retiré. Marié à une femme appelée Martha de Langres, la France; sa réputation pour la sainteté menée aux gens du pays appelant sa Saint Martha et les deux a vécu comme le frère et la soeur.
