Falsely accused by some of the nobility who objected to his spiritual reforms, Guadentius travelled to Rome, Italy in 1032 to defend his name. On the way home, he fell ill in Ancona, and stayed there to recover. He then resigned his see, and became a BeneditinoBenedictine mongemonk under SantoSaint Peter DamianPeter Damian.
